Man I wish I read this six months ago because I had two identical vials sitting next to each other with zero clue which was which.

So true having that exact paper trail makes troubleshooting experimental consistency so much less stressful.

I use a fine point sharpie to write the last three digits of the batch code right on the paper label of the glass vial itself.
