That is why the benzyl alcohol is in there though. It inhibits growth so thirty days is just a manufacturer guideline for safety.

I just buy the tiny thirty ml bottles so I finish them before the month is up anyway.

Thirty days is way too conservative in my experience. I use the same bottle for three months and never had an issue.

Three months is asking for trouble man. Bacteria can definitely grow if you push it past four weeks.

Exactly safety first when dealing with research vials. Better to waste a tiny bit of water than compromise the whole batch.

Small bottles are definitely the way to go if you want zero risk of degradation.

You guys are way too paranoid. A proper sterile technique lets that water last way past standard guidelines.

I always keep mine in a separate mini fridge in the garage just to keep my workspace organized.

That is a fair point about the preservative agent but I still prefer playing it safe for my subjects.

Sterile technique only goes so far once airborne dust settles on the stopper over multiple uses.
