Does anyone use those little silica gel packets in their storage containers or is that just overkill?

My lab fridge is old and likes to freeze things on the top shelf so I had to buy an internal thermometer to keep an eye on it.

Silica packets are actually great for keeping moisture away from the freeze dried powder if your box opens frequently.

This is super helpful for real. I completely ruined my first set of vials by leaving them on the counter overnight.

Same thing happened to me last year and half my research stock turned into solid ice blocks. Total disaster.

Happens to all of us when we start out. Do not sweat it too much just treat it as a learning experience for the next batch.
