Why do people treat third party lab testing like some ancient secret

I am so tired of trying to track down independent certificates of analysis for basic research supplies lately. Every time I ask a simple question in other groups people act like I am asking for nuclear launch codes. You just want to verify purity before running your lab work and suddenly you are getting vague PMs or told to blindly trust a vendor because they have a flashy website. It is basic science accountability not gatekeeping. If a supplier cannot provide a clear and recent report from an accredited facility then we should not even be looking at their inventory for our bench trials. Rant over just needed to vent because waste of time and money gets old fast.

You guys expect way too much hand holding in this hobby just run your own mass spec test if you are so worried.

Exactly my point. You look closely at the dates and realize the batch number does not even match the vial in front of you.

Honestly half the time those documents are photocopied nonsense anyway.

Always look for independent testing groups that crowdfund their own HPLC assays instead of trusting the seller.
