Why do people skip basic math when calculating research volumes

I am honestly losing my mind scrolling through recent logs and seeing basic arithmetic errors everywhere. People are mixing up milligrams and micrograms or messing up their bac water math by a whole decimal place then wondering why their tracking is completely skewed. It takes like two minutes to use a peptide calculator or just write it out on paper before you touch the vial. Like I get being excited about starting a new vial and getting your protocol set up for your subject but rushing through the prep phase is how mistakes happen. If you cannot do basic unit conversions you probably need to slow down and double check your work before measuring anything out.

People just want instant results without doing any of the actual homework required for proper handling.

That is terrifying honestly. Sloppy prep is the fastest way to ruin a good data set or worse.

Thank you. Exactly my point. It is basic middle school math yet people treat it like rocket science.

For real man it drives me nuts seeing people ask how many units on an insulin syringe equals five milligrams when the concentration math is right there.

I actually disagree slightly because insulin syringes confuse a lot of beginners who are used to standard metric markings. A visual guide helps way more than just telling people to do the math.

Even with visual guides some folks still manage to misread the tick marks and inject way too much or too little.
