I do try to keep the desiccant fresh but maybe I need to be more diligent. It is just frustrating when you are trying to maintain consistency for your research.

Yeah, some compounds are just more hygroscopic than others. Make sure your desiccant is fresh in your storage area. That helps a bit.

Oh man, I totally feel you on this. I had a batch of a different compound last week that was practically a brick. Had to gently tap the vial with a spoon to even get it to budge.

I actually prefer a little clumping. It tells me it is real and not cut with something. Just my two cents though.

I disagree a bit. While some clumping is normal, excessive clumping can indicate improper storage at some point in the supply chain, which could affect stability. For research, you want as much consistency as possible.

For breaking up clumps, a clean, sterile spatula works wonders. Just be super gentle. And weigh out quickly to minimize exposure to air.
