Honestly, for short term research, does it even matter that much? I have used both SWFI and BW interchangeably for some common peptides and never noticed a difference in results. Maybe I am just lucky.

While BW is convenient, I always lean towards SWFI. My research subjects are sensitive and I try to minimize any additional compounds. I just make smaller batches and use them quickly. It is more work but worth it for my specific studies.

I've had issues with BW causing aggregation with certain peptides. For some of my more delicate compounds, SWFI or even a specific buffer solution is absolutely necessary. It really depends on the peptide's properties.

I agree with OP. BW is the way to go for most general research. The shelf life extension is a huge plus, especially when you are running multiple experiments over a period of time. Who has time to constantly reconstitute?
