That matches my working hypothesis too. Moisture intrusion ruins the cake structure long before mild heat does, but I am still nervous about larger peptides fracturing.

From what I have seen in older stability papers, short exposures under thirty degrees celsius usually do not cause massive aggregation right away. Moisture is the real enemy of lyophilized cakes.

I actually disagree slightly on how robust they are. I ran a comparative purity test on a batch that sat in a hot mailbox for a weekend and the degradation peak was very noticeable.

That third comment lines up with my own lab notes from last year. Once the vacuum seal gets compromised even a little bit due to thermal expansion the degradation speeds up exponentially.

Good catch on the vacuum seal issue. People forget that pressure changes inside the vial during shipping stress the rubber stopper too.
