Anyone else feel like they are constantly rechecking their research notes?

I use a system where I review all notes for a specific compound at the end of each week. It helps consolidate and makes me feel more organized. Maybe try a scheduled review instead of ad hoc rechecking?

Totally feel this. My desk is a graveyard of half filled notebooks and sticky notes. I once spent an hour looking for a single data point I was sure I wrote down.

I actually find the rechecking process pretty critical. It helps catch potential errors before they become bigger issues in the research. Think of it as a built in quality control step.

Yeah, I get that it is important for quality control. It just feels like I am doing it too much, almost obsessively. Maybe I need to trust my initial notes more.

Have you tried using a dedicated research management software? It can really streamline the process and make cross referencing a breeze. Less manual flipping.

I agree with OP, it is a real time sink. I try to make my initial notes as detailed as possible to reduce the need for constant rechecking later. But sometimes you just need to confirm.
